Vulnerability Details The vulnerability is due to an error in the LDAP service that fails to sufficiently validate specially crafted LDAP requests. A remote attacker may trigger this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted LDAP packet to the ADAM or an Active Directory server. Successful exploitation of this issue could create a denial of service condition, causing the system to become non-responsive. |
Protection Overview
By enabling this protection, SmartDefense will detect and block malformed LDAP requests. IPS-1 will detect and block attempts to reuse a cookie during an LDAP search, which could be an attempt to exploit MS08-035.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your VPN-1/InterSpect product to the latest SmartDefense update. For information on how to update SmartDefense, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
