| Vulnerability Description A remote code execution vulnerability was reported in the Microsoft Color Management System. Image Color Management (ICM) is a color management system that parses and uses data in International Color Consortium (ICC) profiles to perform color translation operations. A remote attacker could exploit this issue via a specially crafted image file. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow execution of arbitrary code on a target system. |

Vulnerability Details The vulnerability is due to a flaw in the Color Management System when processing malformed image files. A remote attacker could trigger this flaw by convincing a victim to open a specially crafted image file. Successful exploitation of this issue may allow the attacker to take complete control of the affected system. |
Protection Overview
By enabling this protection, SmartDefense will detect and block the transferring of malformed image files over HTTP.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your VPN-1/InterSpect product to the latest SmartDefense update. For information on how to update SmartDefense, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
