Vulnerability Details The vulnerability is due to an error in the Adobe Flash Player that fails to sufficiently validate data when parsing malformed JPEG data. A remote attacker might exploit this issue by convincing a victim to open a specially crafted SWF file. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system. |
Protection Overview
This protection will detect and block the transferring of malformed SWF files embedding corrupted JPEG data over HTTP.
Please note that the protection offered in this advisory may cause false positives by blocking legitimate traffic. We are working on solving this issue.
This issue has been fixed on the update package from October 21, 2010.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
