Vulnerability Description
A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Sybase Open Server.
Vulnerability Details
The vulnerability is due to an error in the processing of malformed login packets by the server. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted packet to an affected Sybase server. Successful exploitation would allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the security context of the affected service.

Protection Overview
This protection will detect and block crafted login requests sent to the server.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

To configure the defense, select your product from the list below and follow the related protection steps.

How Can I Protect My Network?
1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Sybase Open Server Null Byte Stack Memory Corruption protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
2. Install policy on all modules.

How Can I Protect My Network?
1. In the IPS-1 Policy Manager, click on the Protection tab.
2. In the Protection tree, click Application Intelligence > Enterprise Software, and select the Sybase protection group.
3. Click Sybase Open Server Null Byte Stack Memory Corruption.
4. In the configuration pane, under Settings, check Active.
5. Click on Install Policy.

Upon attack, the following entries will be logged:
