Vulnerability Details There exists a memory corruption vulnerability in the QTJava component shipped with Apple QuickTime. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of the parameters passed to function toQTPointer. The flaw can be leveraged remotely to execute arbitrary code under the context of the currently logged in user. In an attack case where code injection is not successful, the browser will terminate abnormally after loading a specially crafted HTML page. In a more sophisticated attack, where code injection is successful, the behaviour of the target is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code. The code in such a case would execute within the security context of the current logged-in user. |
