BMP is an image file format used to store bitmap digital images. By persuading a user to open a specially crafted BMP image file, an attacker could take complete control of an affected system. |

Vulnerability Details The vulnerability is due to a buffer overflow when GDI+ fails to properly processes a malformed header in a BMP image file. A remote attacker may trigger this issue by convincing a user to open a specially crafted BMP file. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow execution of arbitrary code on an affected system. |
Protection Overview
By enabling this protection, SmartDefense will detect and block the transferring of malformed BMP files over HTTP.
