Who is Vulnerable?
BEA Systems WebLogic Server 10.3
Vulnerability Description
A cross-site scripting vulnerability was reported in BEA Weblogic Server. BEA WebLogic Server is an enterprise-class Java Application Server platform. WebLogic is typically used as the platform for large enterprise web applications. The vulnerability is due to lack of sanitization of input passed to console-help.portal pages before being returned to the user. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary HTML or script code on the client system.
Update/Patch Available
The vendor, Oracle, has released an advisory addressing this vulnerability: http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/security/critical-patch-updates/cpujul2009.html
Vulnerability Details
Specifically, the vulnerability is in the Administration Console Help interface.  Input passed via the "searchQuery" parameter to "/consolehelp/console-help.portal" in Oracle WebLogic Server is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can allow for injection of arbitrary HTML and script code.

Protection Overview
This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability. IPS-1 will detect and block attempts to access the Oracle BEA WebLogic console help portal with JavaScript embedded in the searchQuery tag.
