Vulnerability Description
A policy bypass vulnerability has been reported in IBM Rational Quality Manager and Test Lab Manager. IBM Rational Quality Manager and Test Lab Manager enables quality assurance teams to track all aspects of the quality assurance effort. The central artifact in the tool is a dynamic test plan that contains all information pertaining to the quality assurance effort, such as goals, schedules, milestones and exit criteria as well as links to associated test cases, requirements and development work items. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability to upload a malicious web application to a vulnerable system.
Vulnerability Details
The flaw exists within the installation of the bundled tomcat server. The default ADMIN account is improperly disabled within 'tomcat-users.xml' An account providing manager role level access is left enabled with a default password. A remote attacker can use this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code under the context of the tomcat server by sending a crafted HTTP request using a set of default credentials.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05Protection tab and select the version of your choice. 

To configure the defense, select your product from the list below and follow the related protection steps.

How Can I Protect My Network?
1. In the IPS tab, click Protections > By Protocol > IPS Software Blade > Application Intelligence > IBM.
2. In the right pane, double-click the IBM Rational Quality Manager and Test Lab Manager Policy Bypass protection.
3. In the Protection Details window, click on Edit. Choose the protection's Action (Override IPS Policy with: Prevent/Detect), and apply Additional Settings
4. Install policy on all modules.

How Do I Know if My Network is Under Attack?

How Can I Protect My Network?
1. In the IPS-1 Policy Manager, click on the Protection tab.
2. In the Protection tree, click Web Intelligence > WWW 2, and select the CGI Attacks protection group
3. Click IBM Rational Quality Manager and Test Lab Manager Policy Bypass (IPS-1 NGX R65 only).
4. In the configuration pane, under Settings, check Active.
5. Click on Install Policy.

How Do I Know if My Network is Under Attack?
