Who is Vulnerable?
Mozilla Foundation Firefox 3.5.x prior to 3.5.3
Vulnerability Description
A memory corruption vulnerability exists in Mozilla Firefox web browser. The vulnerability is due to improper calculation of an object offset in a specific case of the top-level script. Remote attackers can exploit this vulnerability by enticing target users to visit a malicious web page. Successful exploitation could result in arbitrary code execution.

The vendor, Mozilla, has released an advisory addressing this vulnerability.
Vulnerability Details
The vulnerability is due to improper calculation of a stack offset value while parsing specially crafted JavaScript code. Remote attackers can exploit this vulnerability by enticing a target user to visit a crafted web page. Successful exploitation could result in arbitrary code execution

Protection Overview
This protection will detect and block HTML files containing invalid JavaScript constructs.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

To configure the defense, select your product from the list below and follow the related protection steps.

How Can I Protect My Network?
1. In the IPS tab, click Protections > By Protocol > Web Intelligence > HTTP Client Protections > Mozilla Firefox Vulnerabilities.
2. In the right pane, double-click the Mozilla Firefox Top-level Script Object Offset Calculation Memory Corruption protection.
3. In the Protection Details window, click on Edit. Choose the protection's Action (Override IPS Policy with: Prevent/Detect), and apply Additional Settings.
4. Install policy on all modules.

How Do I Know if My Network is Under Attack?

How Can I Protect My Network?
1. In the IPS-1 Policy Manager, click on the Protection tab.
2. In the Protection tree, click Web Intelligence > HTML, and select the Exploit Specific Protections protection group.
3. Click Exploit Specific Protections (IPS-1 NGX R65 only).
4. In the configuration pane, under Settings, check Active.
5. Click on Install Policy.
