Check Point Software Technologies FireWall-1 Selected As Security Solution for the 1996 Democratic National Convention

Redwood City, CA —

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., the leader in network security software, today announced that its award-winning, flagship product, Check Point FireWall-1 has been chosen as the Internet and Internet security solution for the Democratic National Convention taking place August 26-29 at the United Center in Chicago. The Democratic National Convention will use Check Point FireWall-1 to secure Internet access at Chicago's United Center and also enable President Clinton, Vice President Gore and the convention delegates to access the Internet from the Hyatt Regency hotel securely.

Check Point was chosen for this prestigious honor over other solutions because of its ability to secure transmissions using Internet multimedia technologies. Prior to and during the convention, the Democratic party will deliver a variety of information to delegates using Internet audio and video applications such as RealAudio from Progressive Networks and VDOLive from VDOnet.

Open Business Systems, a Sun Microsystems Value Added Reseller, was selected by Check Point Software to provide network integration, technical support and customer support services.

"The Democratic National Convention has taken a very progressive approach to keeping the public informed by pushing the limits of the Internet to deliver a variety of interactive content," stated Dr. Deborah Triant, CEO and President of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "We applaud the DNC's efforts to leverage today's advanced technologies and are pleased that they have chosen to secure their mission-critical information using Check Point FireWall-1."

"The Democratic Party had very strict network security requirements," stated Brian Wolfe, vice president of Open Business Systems. "Check Point FireWall-1's comprehensive feature set including its easy-to-use graphical user interface and its ability to support the largest number of applications, protocols and services, coupled with its dominant market leadership position made it the natural selection to meet the needs of the DNC."
