CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES EXPANDS PRESENCE IN JAPAN

Redwood City, Calif. – March 31, 1997 -- Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., (NASDAQ: CHKPF), the market share leader in enterprise security software and inventor of "Stateful Inspection" technology, today announced that it has opened a regional office in Japan. The new office, located in Tokyo, will provide sales support and service for Check Point Software's growing base of channel partners in the region, where the demand for enterprise-wide security solutions is growing at a rapid pace.

The company also announced today that its award-winning Check Point™ FireWall-1™ enterprise security solution is the number-one selling firewall product in Japan. According to a study published in August 1996 by Techno Systems Research Co., Ltd., a Japanese market research company, Check Point Software is the market share leader in the Japanese firewall market with 44.9 percent of the market in installed units and 48 percent of the market in revenues.

The new Japanese office is headed by Mr. Yukinobu Uyama, who has more than twenty years of experience working for American computer and software companies in Japan. His background includes several management positions in systems engineering, mainframe and networking product management and software sales.
