CHECK POINT SOFTWARE INTRODUCES NEW PRODUCTS FOR TRUE CLIENT/SERVER SECURITY, INCLUDING PERSONAL FIREWALL CAPABILITY
VPN-1 SecureClient and VPN-1 SecureServer Ensure Confidentiality of Strategic Corporate Data; Protect Clients and Servers REDWOOD CITY, Calif., August 30, 1999 Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP) today announced the availability of Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient and VPN-1 SecureServer to advance enterprise security by protecting individual clients, servers and confidential client/server communications within a corporate network or across the Internet. The new products help establish Check Point Software's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture that incorporates all of the critical elements needed for a secure Internet environment. VPN-1 SecureClient serves both as a remote access VPN client and a corporate desktop VPN client. When used in conjunction with VPN-1 SecureServer, organizations can secure communications between individual clients and servers running sensitive enterprise applications such as those from Oracle, SAP or PeopleSoft as well as popular Internet-based applications such as email, web browsing and file transfer. In addition to the client/server security it delivers, VPN-1 SecureClient provides a personal firewall capability, protecting clients by enforcing a centrally managed security policy at the client level. "VPN-1 SecureClient and VPN-1 SecureServer revolutionize Internet security by extending integrated VPN and firewall capabilities down to the individual client and server level," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development for Check Point Software Technologies. "Our VPN-1 product family now uniquely enables corporations to centrally manage and deploy comprehensive security policies end-to-end across gateways, clients and servers." VPN-1 SecureClient strengthens security across the enterprise by protecting against the "hijacking" of established VPN connections by remote clients using unsecured broadband Internet access services such as cable modem and DSL connections. Within a corporation, VPN-1 SecureClient and VPN-1 SecureServer protect confidential or sensitive information against eavesdropping by "rogue" employees or contractors on the corporate network. VPN-1 SecureClient also ensures that corporate security policies are enforced on individual clients. VPN-1 SecureClient builds on the functionality of VPN-1 SecuRemote, Check Point Software's existing VPN client with more than 10 million copies licensed worldwide in 1999 alone. As with VPN-1 SecuRemote, VPN-1 SecureClient works seamlessly and transparently with all popular client applications, including email, Web browsers, scheduling and enterprise applications.
