ArrowPoint Communications Content Web switches Receive OPSEC Certification from Check Point Software

ArrowPoint Communications Becomes a High Availability Solutions Provider in Check Point's 250 Member OPSEC Alliance

Acton, MA, June 22, 2000 – ArrowPoint Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARPT), a leading provider of Web switches and WebNS™ network services software to optimize e-commerce and Internet content delivery, today announced that its Content Smart™ family of Web switches have been OPSEC™ (Open Platform for Security) certified by Check Point Software Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ: CHKP), the leader in securing the Internet. OPSEC Certification is the defacto standard for integrated network security. ArrowPoint's Content Smart™ family includes the CS-50, CS-150 and CS-800.

Receiving OPSEC certification from Check Point enables ArrowPoint to take advantage of the OPSEC architecture and tightly integrate its Web switches with Check Point's security solutions. Mutual customers will benefit from enhanced interoperability between ArrowPoint's entire Web switching family and Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1 offering – thereby raising their network security and high-availability capabilities to new levels. Check Point's ability to enable open, "best-of-breed" solutions to their customers was a key reason the company was awarded the "Best Partnering Alliance" across the entire software industry by Software Business Magazine in May of this year.

ArrowPoint's Content Smart Web switches optimize Web performance – relieving busy or overloaded sites and providing users a fast and reliable Web experience. Unlike traditional switching solutions, ArrowPoint's products, which are powered by its WebNS software, direct Web traffic based on full visibility of lengthy URLs, host tags and cookies, no matter where in the HTTP header packet they are embedded. As a result, ArrowPoint customers build Web sites that maximize server capacity, personalize content and prioritize content delivery.

"Receiving Check Point's OPSEC certification demonstrates ArrowPoint's ability to further extend its technology leadership by interoperating with a leading security architecture for Internet security – Check Point's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture," said Brian Walck, ArrowPoint's vice president of product management. "Our customers and their online audiences will benefit from today's announcement through superior Web site security, availability and reliability – which represent fundamental elements for building successful e-business relationships."

"Continuous access to the Internet is the lifeline of e-businesses today." said Bradley Brown, director, inbound business development, Check Point Software Technologies. "Interoperability between ArrowPoint Communication's Web switches and Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1 provides a ‘best-of-breed' approach to high-availability Internet security."
