New Check Point VPN Clients are Easier to Use and Manage for 100 Million Users

New SecureClient Technology With Integrated Personal Firewall in Latest Next Generation Product Release

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., November 12, 2001 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced new VPN-1 SecureClient™ technology in the latest release of Check Point Next Generation Feature Pack 1 (FP1). Included are new VPN client features combined with the "One-Click" VPN technologies also announced today (see separate release) and integrated personal firewall solutions that improve security and make remote access VPNs dramatically easier to deploy, manage and use. Check Point is the VPN market leader, with approximately 100 million VPN clients licensed to users and over 100,000 VPN gateways.

Next Generation FP1 adds the following new advances in the VPN client:

  • OfficeMode - enables a remote VPN user to more transparently participate in corporate Windows networks
  • VPN Monitoring Diagnostics - incorporates a new diagnostics monitoring tool to ease management and troubleshooting of VPNs
  • "One-Click Certificates" - provides the highest level of client-to-gateway and gateway-to-gateway public key technology without the need for additional third-party products.

In addition, described in a separate release, Next Generation FP1 provides One-Click VPN set-up with instant "VPN Communities" and One-Click extranets to simplify the deployment of customer and partner extranets.

VPN-1 SecureClient Next Generation already incorporates these key features:

  • Integrated Personal Firewall - VPN-1 SecureClient integrates a client version of the industry-leading FireWall-1® to fully protect the client; this personal firewall is managed centrally by the corporation rather than leaving security up to each individual
  • Secure Configuration Verification - conducts pre-configured and custom security checks on client systems to eliminate potential security breaches
  • Client Security Policies - enables simple definition and management of client security policies for complete end-to-end security
