Secure Connectivity Center Developed by Schlumberger to Revolutionize Corporate Extranet Industry Featuring Check Point FireWall-1 Technology
HOUSTON (May 14, 2001)-Schlumberger Network Solutions, an operating unit of Schlumberger Oilfield Services, today announced the release of the Secure Connectivity Center*, a network security platform featuring Check Point FireWall-1® from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP). Secure Connectivity Center enables secure connectivity between multiple customers and multiple services over a single connection, with flexible, centralized management and control.
This revolutionary
new system replaces a myriad of individual security solutions with
an integrated, network-wide implementation allowing end-to-end solutions
from corporate
Web access to multi-system connectivity.
"For businesses with large numbers of extranet connections, the
temptation is to take a piece by piece approach to scaling, adding
new firewalls and security protocols on an incremental basis,"
said Jean-Michel Rouylou, vice president Secure Connectivity Services,
Schlumberger Network Solutions. "We designed our system to scale
rapidly, while reducing the complexity and cost of deployment and
management. And our commitment to provide more than 100 Check Point-certified
consultants assures in-depth service to our customers for an expeditious
rollout."
The Security Connectivity Center meets the increasing demand for shared
access to applications and data by application service providers (ASPs),
business-to-business enterprises and e-commerce platform providers.
It simplifies secure interconnection and management of networks with
incompatible routing or address conflicts, and cuts the cost of reaching
new customers, no matter where they are located or how their own system
is configured.
"We are pleased that Schlumberger's Secure Connectivity Center has selected Check Point's market-leading FireWall-1," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of business development and product management for Check Point Software Technologies. "Check Point's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture enables Schlumberger to deliver secure Internet connectivity between networks, systems, applications and users across the Internet, intranets and extranets."
As the number of extranet users increases, the cost of serving them securely can increase exponentially. Inevitably, network performance problems arise leading to a proliferation of partial solutions that can work against each other, and the lead-time for adding new connections increases. Secure Connectivity Center enables the rapid scaling of services securely without the ballooning costs of a piece by piece approach, while reducing deployment time and streamlining management, thus freeing the customer's IT professionals to concentrate on their core-business responsibilities.
Secure Connectivity Center is vertically scalable as well. It can be configured to add features and performance as business requirements grow. It is available as a turnkey solution, or as a hosted service through one of the Schlumberger global Service Management Centers.
