Check Point Announces Support for Clientless VPN to Enable Secure Communications from Anywhere

Also Introduces Enhancements to VPN-1 Pro and VPN-1 SecureClient That Increase Security and Choice of Connectivity Options


REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - July 30, 2002 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced support for SSL-based or "clientless" VPNs that enable flexible, secure remote access from anywhere, including any standard web browser or Microsoft Windows L2TP VPN client. Additionally, the company is announcing enhancements to its SecureVPN solutions that increase security for clients, improve VPN monitoring capabilities and simplify VPN deployment.

These new solutions extend Check Point's market-leading VPN-1®/FireWall-1® product family, enabling unprecedented flexibility and management ease-of-use and delivering the broadest range of VPN support across a range of computing platforms and environments, including: PCs, laptops, PocketPC-based devices, standard Web browsers with SSL, Microsoft L2TP/IPSec VPN Client and wireless networks.

Secure Clientless VPNs
Building on its Check Point Everywhere strategy, Check Point is expanding its SecureVPN technology to securely deliver access to the most vital corporate resources from many types of end user devices and environments without the use of a dedicated VPN client. With support for clientless VPNs, users can now establish connections from any standard Web browser to a VPN-1 gateway using SSL to secure communications. This enables enterprises of all sizes to choose from a greater range of secure access options when providing VPN connectivity to remote employees and corporate extranet partners.

For example, clientless VPN connectivity is ideal for Extranet scenarios where the VPN-1 administrator does not have management control of the user's desktop, as well as for flexible, secure access of remote employees into the corporate network.

  • Improved VPN routing capabilities with support for Hub-and-Spoke topologies that streamline migration from expensive, dedicated Frame Relay networks to cost-efficient Internet-based VPNs
  • New VPN monitoring capabilities offer more in-depth information on VPN performance and usage for improved management and capacity planning
