Terayon and Check Point's SofaWare Collaborate to Bring Internet Security to Home Cable Modem Access

Enables Cable Network Providers and ISPs to Secure Home Networks with Comprehensive, Easy-to-use Solution

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – April 3, 2000 – Broadband network supplier Terayon Communication Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:TERN) today announced that it is collaborating with SofaWare Technologies, a company of Check Point Software Technologies (Nasdaq:CHKP), to secure residences with broadband cable modem Internet access with an out-of-the-box solution that is simple, easy to use and offers the highest level of security. The companies will incorporate key technology from Check Point Software in cable modems produced by Terayon and supplied to cable television network operators offering "always on" high-speed Internet access. The solution is designed to protect the entire residential network, including multiple computers and other Internet devices within the home.

The solution integrates SofaWare's innovative HomeSecure! firewall security software with Terayon's TeraJet™ DOCSIS (Data Over Cable System Interface Specification) and TeraPro™ cable modems to secure users' computers against potential attacks from hackers or unauthorized probing from cyber "voyeurs." The Check Point-based HomeSecure! firewall will be embedded within the Terayon modems and can be managed remotely by the service provider with optional control by the consumer, simplifying the installation, configuration and updating of the Internet security system. HomeSecure! utilizes Check Point's Stateful Inspection technology, the acknowledged standard for enterprise Internet security.
