OmniCluster Technologies' SlotShield 1000 & 3000 Receives "Secured by Check Point" Certification
OmniCluster to integrate market-leading Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 and VPN-1/FireWall-1 SmallOfficeBOCA RATON, FL, June 10, 2002 - OmniCluster Technologies, Inc., a leading developer and provider of PCI-based security appliance blades, announced today that the OmniCluster SlotShield 1000 and SlotShield 3000 VPN/security products have passed rigorous testing and received "Secured by Check Point" certification from Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP). Check Point's market-leading VPN-1®/FireWall-1® Next Generation software integrated with OmniCluster's PCI-based SlotShield server appliance blade solution allows for two different and distinctive breakthrough security implementations:
The first implementation allows for an individual server to be secured by VPN-1/FireWall-1 through existing hardware infrastructure. This configuration drives business-to-business VPN transactions right down to an individual server, insuring that the transaction stays secure and encrypted right to the PCI bus and without any impact to the host operating system (OS). Additionally, this implementation also shields mission critical servers from internal risks such as wireless networks or viruses that spread from server to server. The second implementation gives OmniCluster's hardware the ability to create a new class of consolidated security appliance - one that takes advantage of High Availability features like RAID and redundant power on servers from IBM, Compaq, HP, Dell, Gateway, and others. Check Point FireWall Clusters can be deployed with complementary Open Platform for Security (OPSECT) applications, to drive a new segment of multi-application security solutions in a single industry standard server. The topology allows an individual to run VPN-1/FireWall-1 in parallel with URL filtering, virus scanning, and intrusion detection applications within a single server chassis using different operating systems. "This is a milestone for the security industry," said Christopher Fleck, CEO of OmniCluster Technologies. "Users of Check Point's market-leading products can now utilize a single industry standard server to create a cluster of VPN/firewalls, delivering a custom solution for their security needs. By combining OPSEC-certified security applications such as virus screening and URL filtering into an industry standard server using OmniCluster's SlotShield appliances, a 'best-of-breed' consolidated security server can be easily deployed with existing hardware infrastructure." "We are pleased to see OmniCluster's SlotShield appliances receive 'Secured by Check Point' certification," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of business development and product management for Check Point Software Technologies. "SlotShield appliances integrating Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 software provide enterprises a scaleable and easy to use solution to secure individual servers and entire networks with existing industry-standard servers." OmniCluster's SlotShield 3000 and 1000 are ideal platforms for the next generation of VPN/security appliances and can be ordered today. The SlotShield 1000 is priced at $599.00 and includes 128MB of RAM and a host-based storage area network (SAN) for diskless operation. The SlotShield 3000 is priced at $1,999 and includes 3 10/100 external Ethernet ports, an internal SAN and gigabit Ethernet. SlotShield 3000 is ideal for an expandable, scalable, PCI-based security solution for enterprises looking to build a chassis-like solution. Each OmniCluster SlotShield can be installed and running in less than 15 minutes. VPN-1/FireWall-1 SmallOffice licenses start at $400. For the enterprise addition of VPN-1/FireWall-1 licenses start at $2,000. ### About
